My first shows of the year are on the first 3 weekends in May with Silicon Valley Open Studios:

  • May 6-7 in Belmont (619 Southview Court)
  • May 13-14 in Los Altos (2234 Vineyard Court)
  • May 20-21 in Half Moon Bay (337 Mirada Avenue)

There will be a variety of artists at each location.  Hours are Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm, all 3 weekends. Google maps are available at http://www.svos.org/artist.php?id=2417

I will have quite a few new prints on display and available for purchase.  For a preview, visit my Recently Added gallery.

Hope to see you there!

Fall 2016

This past fall I managed a visit to the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, including Dubrovnik and Split, and to Zagreb, the Croatian capital, and found a fascinating mix of history and cultures, both ancient and modern, and enjoyed the chance to see some relatively undeveloped parts of Eastern Europe.  I particularly enjoyed visiting Plitvice Lakes, a national park with beautiful lakes and waterfalls.

Shortly afterward I spent some time in the Appalachian Mountains (Shenandoah and the Great Smokies), a region I have wanted to visit and photograph for some time.  It was during fall color, which is distinctly different from the west coast and one of the best times to visit the east.

I have included some shots from these trips on my website at Recently Added – check them out.  I expect to have some of them on exhibit at my upcoming spring shows.

I have one more show scheduled for this summer, the Scotts Valley Art & Wine Show on the weekend of August 20-21 at the Scotts Valley Sky Park from 10 am to 5 pm.  For directions and additional information, visit svartfest.com. Tie a visit to the show in with a trip to the coast for a summer cool-down. Come check it out, I'd love to see you!

Spring 2016 - Update and Upcoming Shows

2015 ended, for me, in Switzerland - high in the mountains of the Bernese Oberland, where I spent the week between Christmas and New Years attending a friend's birthday party.  What a great place for a celebration!  The weather was less wintry than I expected, with the lower elevations still fairly green, but there was a dusting of snow on the mountains above which provided a nice contrast.  Needless to say, there was some photography involved (see my Recent Additions).

At the end of March, I did a loop through Central California looking for spring wildflowers to photograph.  I had a special lens I wanted to try out, and with the El Niño winter just behind us, I was hoping to see large fields of flowers.  While many spots were just ordinary, there were a few that were quite spectacular, including an entire mountainside covered in California poppies that I visited near Santa Barbara.  (Also in Recent Additions.)

Spring is my busiest time for shows.  I just wrapped up a couple of exhibits in San Jose, including one at Art Ark, a wonderful gallery just south of downtown.  May is even busier.  The first 3 weekends I'll be exhibiting in 3 different locations:

  1. May 7-8 in Saratoga with Silicon Valley Open Studios - my 3rd year (see map at svos.org)
  2. May 14-15 at the Los Altos Fine Art Show in downtown Los Altos - my 2nd year (rotaryartshow.com)
  3. May 21-22 in Los Altos, also with Silicon Valley Open Studios (see map at svos.org)

I was featured again this year in a Los Altos Town Crier article about the upcoming show, as well as in a Metroactive Silicon Valley article.

I hope you can join me at one of these upcoming events so I can share some of my new pieces and the adventures they came from with you.

2015 New Images and Holiday Sale

November 16, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

It's been a while since my last update, and quite a bit has happened, including the arrival of two grandchildren!  In between somewhere I managed a few trips and reviewed photos to add to my gallery.  So, when you have a moment, take a look at my Recently Added images, including some from a rafting trip down the Grand Canyon and a swing through the parklands of southern Utah.  I'm certain there will be images you haven't seen before!  And in case you missed them earlier, check out my Yellowstone and Grand Teton images from last fall. Truly spectacular, special places (as I'm sure you can agree if you've been there), with amazing scenery and wildlife.

If you think someone on your holiday shopping list this season would enjoy seeing a bit of nature on their wall each day, let me know (contact me here).  We have time to get some of that beauty in your hands for the holidays!  If you'd rather let them choose their own image, a gift certificate works perfectly.

Best wishes for the holidays and 2016!
