Golden Gate Bridge at Dusk

Golden Gate Bridge at Dusk

San Francisco, California

There is no more glorious sight than the skyline of San Francisco on a clear day viewed through the Golden Gate Bridge from the Marin Headlands. Fall is usually one of the best times to view it without fog, and this day was unusually clear. Its appearance changes throughout the day as the light moves around. I’ve shot this scene many times, but no two images are the same. The golden hour around sunset is often the best for shooting from this location. As it was getting dark when I took this shot, it required a tripod and a fairly long exposure (2 seconds). I stitched multiple images to increase the level of detail. As a result this image can be printed quite large.
