Merced River, Late Fall
Yosemite National Park, California
The vast majority of visitors to Yosemite come in the summer – yet the other seasons offer as much or more, especially considering the lack of crowds. The vibrant colors of fall; the crisp, sharp clarity of winter; and the ascendant beauty of spring – all have a wonder of their own. Here, the Merced River flows lazily out of Yosemite Valley on a sunny late autumn afternoon, reflecting the muted colors of the trees in its tranquil waters, while early snows collect on its banks.
