Blue Berg
Black Sand Beach, Jokulsarlon, Iceland
Icebergs calve off the Vatnajökull glacier, feeding into a large lagoon, eventually washing out to sea and then back onto the beach. The wash of the waves smoothes the surface of the bergs, carving unique shapes and creating jewel-like surfaces that refract light from the waves and the sky, contrasting sharply with the black sand of the beach. The gusty winter wind, pounding waves, and dark overcast made for some uniquely difficult shooting.
