Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia

Plitvice Lakes is best known for its beautiful waterfalls cascading over travertine draperies. But as I was hiking around the lakes, I was struck by a much simpler and more universal beauty – the reflections of the fall foliage in the glassy water, accented by the leaves and grasses along the lake’s edge. It could have been almost anywhere, and the radiant colors speak to me of the wonder of the world around us.
