Match Race - America's Cup 2012
San Francisco Bay
2012-13 was the first time that the America's Cup boats used the radical new design proposed by Oracle's founder, Larry Ellison. With a decent wind, they could run up to 40-50 knots, making the races thrilling to watch as well as challenging and dangerous for the crews. The early trials showcased match races such as this one between the US and Sweden to give the crews a chance to learn how to manage their new boats. The final was a thrilling come-from-behind victory for the American crew.
