Snowfall

Yosemite Falls Trail, Yosemite National Park, California

I love Yosemite in the winter. The mountains, trees, and meadows covered with snow are a never-ending delight. I was hiking along the Yosemite Falls Trail as the snow began to fall. It felt like a veil was being pulled over the forest – thick enough to muffle the sounds, but thin enough to still see the trees through it. I wanted to capture this feeling of magic and mystery by blurring the snow streaks without having them blot out too much of the background. I didn't have my tripod with me, so holding the camera still at this slow speed was a challenge.
